                        CHECK IN - Artists may check in at the Adirondack Artists Guild, 52 Main St., from 10 am to 5pm and get canvases/papers stamped.
 NEW IN 2018: ARTISTS MAY BEGIN PAINTING AFTER CHECK-IN.
 
 Nocturne Contest! The Hotel Saranac will host a "Meet the Artists" Reception and the annual Nocturne Contest. The reception will be from 7 - 9 pm and the public is welcome. Artists are invited to paint nocturnes from the outside, 2nd floor terrace, overlooking Main Street, Saranac Lake. Finished paintings may be left on display at the Hotel, and/or can be brought in later in the week. The winner will be announced Thursday evening and then paintings may be removed to include in the Show & Sale in the Town Hall. More details later!
 
 
                          TUESDAY AUG 14, 2018
 "Paint the VIC" Day. The Paul Smith's College VIC is site for the first day of painting. Miles of trails, scenic views of mountains, old growth forest, bogs, streams, marsh, beaver lodges, Adirondack lean-tos, etc. Indoor facilities. Many good painting spots near the parking areas and building. May also paint on the nearby college campus. Get directions to the Black Pond part of the VIC. Trail maps available. BRING LUNCH. There may be a dinner, TBD. Painting through the evening is encouraged.
 
 
 
                      WEDNESDAY AUG 15, 2018
 "Paint the Adirondacks" Day. Artists are free to choose their own painting locations. There may be special prizes for specific locations - more info later,  as well as some other special painting opportunities. Check materials and map in packet.
 
 
 
                      THURSDAY AUG 16, 2018"Paint the Town" Day.  All artists are requested to spend the day in the Village to paint. They are also asked to produce one, small (11x14 or smaller), unframed painting for a Silent Auction which will begin at 5 pm. Free 5x7 canvases will be available. Artists receive 50% of the proceeds and a donation to the Saranac Lake Central School District Art Program will be made from the remainder. PAINTINGS (UNFRAMED) DUE AT 4 PM AT THE ADIRONDACK ARTISTS GUILD GALLERY.
 
 
 "Nocturne Contest". Nighttime paintings. PAINTINGS (FRAMED), DUE AT 5 PM AT THE HOTEL SARANAC. (They may be dropped off anytime between Mon. and Thurs. at 5). WINNER announced at 7 pm. Afterwards artists may take their paintings in order to include them in the Show & Sale in the Town Hall.
 
 "3rd Thursday ArtWalk" - from 5 - 7:30 pm there will be artists and musicians throughout the village as part of our regular monthly ArtWalk. Stroll about, visit the various art venues, and enjoy the evening. Free live music at Berkeley Green. You do NOT have to participate in this, but if you wish to, feel free to set up and paint somewhere. It's good publicity for the Plein Air Festival. Let people know about the Preview Party and Show & Sale.
 
 
 
                      FRIDAY AUG 17, 2018"Paint the Saranac River" Day. We have permission to paint at the Saranac Lake Fish & Game Club and there are additional painting locations near by. Or artists may use this time to get paintings framed.

                      Quick Draw Competition - (optional) downtown Saranac Lake & Riverside Park, 9 - 11. Paintings judged at the Town Hall at 11:15 and prize awarded. ARTISTS: register and pick up your number at the Adirondack Artists Guild between 8 - 9 am. Paint from 9 - 11. Bring easels and framed paintings to the sidewalk out in front of the Town Hall for judging at 11:15. Display number on easel.
